Rara Lake is one of the most fascinating treks in Nepal. Rara Lake is situated in the far northwestern part of Nepal. It is the biggest lake in Nepal. Rara Lake protected by Rara National Park which is one of the smallest park of the country, where altitude range from 1,800m to 4,048 m of the pristine coniferous forest, blue pine, black juniper, Himalayan spruce, oak, Himalayan cypress, and other related species. This area still remains least explored and truly pristine that makes it one of the wildest parts of Nepal making a great and unique tourist destination.
The Rara Lake looks like a blue nymph, indulged in the romance with mountains. In every afternoon the outstanding snowcapped panorama of Dolpo and Tibetan mountains overshadows the scene across the deep clear waters of the lake. Rara National Park is the smallest national park but in its heart, where you visit the most pristine and magical lake, Rara Lake. The park includes a trans-Himalayan valley with high ridges covered with forest and alpine pastures. Being among the local people with their distinctive culture and traditions gives the visitor a unique experience and makes for an unforgettable and wonderful holiday.
Trekking to this stunning lake gives a taste of natural wilderness and silence. Our trek starts from Jumla, the largest upland hill town in west Nepal. Climbing gradually through forests of mixed oak, conifer, pine, broad-leafed chestnut, white birch, and rhododendron, we cross the lush alpine meadows with herds of sheep and goat herders. After exploration of this lake, we hike through grassy alpine pastures and some villages. Then we descend to Jumla. From Jumla we take the flight to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj.
Trekking to this destination offers the best in scenery and you are very much off-the-beaten-track, with the trek going through one of the most pristine and finest national parks in the world. At the same time, the western Nepal cultural experience is unique and is quite different from that of the rest of Nepal.
